NIXsolutions: Siri with AI Support May Launch This Fall

Apple, which earlier delayed the release of advanced artificial intelligence features for its Siri voice assistant, is now expediting work and aims to unveil the updated version with Apple Intelligence support this fall. According to The New York Times, the company has shifted its timeline and intends to showcase these improvements in the coming months.

Back in March, Apple acknowledged that more time would be needed to implement personalized features in Siri, initially pushing the launch to next year. However, The New York Times, citing three sources familiar with the matter, now reports that Apple has not abandoned its updated version of Siri. Instead, it plans to release the enhanced assistant in the fall. The revamped Siri will support tasks like editing and sending photos to contacts on command.

Enhanced Capabilities with Apple Intelligence

Apple initially demonstrated the upcoming AI-powered Siri at its WWDC event in June last year. The new features fall into three broad categories: understanding personal context, interpreting on-screen activity, and deeper integration with applications.

Personal context refers to Siri’s ability to analyze the user’s data — including emails, messages, photos, files, and interaction history — to offer more helpful, context-aware assistance. For instance, users can ask Siri to show files sent by a specific contact last week, locate an email mentioning a certain topic like hockey, retrieve book recommendations, or display a saved recipe.

Screen awareness allows Siri to understand and interact with content currently displayed on the device. For example, Siri will be able to automatically add a newly received address to a contact card or send a viewed image directly to a recipient.

Application integration is also being upgraded. Siri will soon be able to move files between apps, edit and send media, provide directions, notify someone of an estimated arrival time, and send drafts of emails — all using voice commands.

Current Progress and Future Updates

Some of these new features have already been implemented, such as an updated interface, support for text-based communication, integration with ChatGPT, and improved natural speech recognition, notes NIXsolutions.

While the complete rollout is still in development, Apple appears committed to delivering the enhanced Siri experience sooner than expected. We’ll keep you updated as more details and integrations become available.
