NIXSolutions: Apple is Already Developing iOS 19, Codenamed Luck

A few weeks ago, as part of the WWDC conference, Apple announced the next version of its mobile operating system, iOS 18. Despite the fact that the stable version of the platform will become publicly available only in the fall, Apple has already begun working on iOS 19 and updates for the company’s other operating systems, which will appear next year.

As for iOS 18, after the announcement of the software platform, the first beta version of the OS became available to application developers. The second beta version of iOS 18 for developers was released in the middle of this month. The first consumer beta of the OS should be available for download next month. Distribution of the stable version of iOS 18 will begin in the fall along with the launch of new iPhones.

Apple’s Forward Planning for 2025

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple has “officially begun work on the major operating systems of 2025.” While this may seem premature, Gurman notes that this development schedule is normal for Apple. It is also reported that iOS 19 is being developed under the code name Luck, macOS 16 is called Cheer, watchOS 12 is called Nepali, and VisionOS 3 is called Discovery. It is still unknown what innovations the developers plan to implement in future updates, notes NIXSolutions.
