With iOS 18, Apple has introduced the ability to pause video recordings, enabling users to capture different frames in a single video. This new feature eliminates the need to shoot multiple short clips and later merge them in an editing app, offering more convenience for users who frequently record videos.
How It Works
When you begin recording in iOS 18, a new pause button appears on the left side of the screen. By pressing it, you can pause the recording at any time. To resume, simply press the button again, and the video will continue from where you left off. There is also the option to end the recording using the button located at the center bottom of the screen.
This new addition enhances the camera experience, making it simpler to record videos without interruptions, while still providing editing flexibility within a single recording session.
Availability and Upcoming Releases
The feature is already available in the iOS 18 Release Candidate, which became available as of yesterday, adds NIX Solutions. Its release is likely tied to the upcoming iPhone 16 models, which will include a new camera control button. iOS 18 itself is scheduled to launch on September 16, with the iPhone 16 models following shortly after on September 20.
