Apple has released the stable version of macOS Sequoia for compatible Mac computers. This new software platform introduces a range of innovations, including the ability to display the iPhone screen on a Mac for remote control, background images for video conferences, and the integration of Apple Intelligence functions based on artificial intelligence. These AI features, however, are not available yet but will be introduced later this year.
iPhone Screen Display on Mac
One of the standout features in macOS Sequoia is the ability to display and control the iPhone screen from a Mac. This function allows users to remotely interact with their smartphones, perform text input, move objects with the mouse, and launch apps, even those not installed on the Mac. iPhone notifications can also be mirrored on the Mac screen. Later this year, file transfers between iPhone and Mac will become easier, enhancing cross-device functionality. We’ll keep you updated on these upcoming changes.
Video Conferencing and Safari Enhancements
macOS Sequoia also adds a new window snapping feature, enabling users to group windows for more efficient multitasking. For video calls, there is a tool that allows you to replace the background with a custom image or one from a preset catalog. Safari has been updated with a new reading mode, which offers structural highlights and short summaries of the content on viewed pages.
Future AI Tools and Compatibility
Although Apple Intelligence AI features will be part of macOS Sequoia, these tools are set to launch later in the year, notes NIX Solutions. Initially, they will be available only on Macs with Apple M1 chips or later versions. The operating system itself is compatible with a wide range of devices, starting from the 2019 iMac, iMac Pro, iMac Studio, 2019 Mac Pro, 2018 Mac Mini, and later models. We’ll keep you updated as these AI-powered features are rolled out.
