Today, Apple released the second betas of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 with Apple Intelligence features for developers. The second betas arrived two weeks after the first betas were released. These updates are exclusively available for devices supporting Apple Intelligence features, specifically the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple Silicon iPad, and Apple Silicon Mac. Developers can download the updates through the Settings app and choose between the standard betas of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia 15, and the “.1” betas with Apple Intelligence features.
New Apple Intelligence Features
The Apple Intelligence features introduce a range of tools for working with text, accessible wherever text selection and editing are available. These tools allow users to check text for errors, correct them, adjust the mood of the text, and highlight key points. Siri receives a visual upgrade with a pleasant glow along the display edges, and users can now type requests to Siri. The personal assistant demonstrates improved understanding, even when users stumble over their words, and maintains context across multiple requests.
Safari now offers the ability to condense articles to essential information, and a new Focus mode helps minimize phone distractions. Smart replies are now available in the Messages and Mail apps, with important emails prominently displayed at the top in Mail. The Photos app introduces a feature to create video memories based on text descriptions. Users can now record, transcribe, and summarize phone calls, extracting the most crucial information. Transcription and summarization capabilities extend to any audio recording as well, adds NIX Solutions.
It’s worth noting that certain features such as image and emoji-related functions are not yet available in these betas. Apple has chosen to include Apple Intelligence features in separate beta versions, as they won’t be immediately accessible following the release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. These AI-powered features are slated for public release later this fall. We’ll keep you updated on any further developments regarding these exciting new features.
Apple’s decision to introduce these advanced AI capabilities demonstrates its commitment to enhancing user experience across its ecosystem. As the beta testing progresses, we can expect further refinements and possibly additional features before the final release. The tech community eagerly anticipates how these AI-driven tools will transform daily interactions with Apple devices.
