NIX Solutions: iOS 18 Beta 3 Released

Apple has released the third beta version of iOS 18. The system has improved the dark theme, updated the Photos and Messages applications, and paved the way for Apple Intelligence features. Here are all the features of the update.

Icons and Wallpapers

Third-party software now interacts better with dark mode. Popular services like Facebook, Etsy, Telegram, Signal, Slack, Notion, YouTube, and others have received icons in the Dark Mode style. The algorithm is automatically applied to colored labels, allowing the secondary shade to become the main one while replacing the white background with black. Particularly complex designs are not yet fully converted but take on a slightly darker color. After the release of iOS 18, software developers will be able to implement their own dark versions of icons.

Additionally, dynamic wallpapers for the lock screen have been added. These wallpapers gradually change color depending on the time of day, adding a new level of customization for users.

Messages and Photos

In Messages, emoji, stickers, and Memoji have been combined into one section. Switching between them is done using the icons below, making it easy to create and send your own stickers. These can be sent individually or in smaller forms, making them, like emoji, part of the message. This feature, however, only works with static images. The emoticons in the menu have been made larger, and the “Recent” section has been expanded. All changes indicate preparation for the introduction of Genmoji and Image Playground.

In addition, the RCS function has been clarified. Under the slider for activating it, a note appeared stating that the protocol uses data transfer through a provider that can access the user ID.

A slight convenience was also noticed in the Photos application. A “Select” button has been added to the top panel, allowing users to quickly select multiple images without having to scroll down the list. The search option’s appearance has changed, now represented by a magnifying glass icon in a blue circle.

Flashlight and Future Updates

The flashlight has acquired an expanded and more intuitive menu in the control center, making it convenient to adjust the brightness and lighting area. References to various Apple Intelligence tools have already been found in the OS code. These tools are expected to debut this fall in beta status on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, as well as iPad and Mac models with the M1 chip and later, notes NIX Solutions.

We’ll keep you updated on any new developments as Apple continues to enhance and expand the features of iOS 18.
